Visual Sitemap Design: Website Architecture Before Pixels

Before any line of code or pixel of design, a website needs a clear architecture. A visual sitemap is the strategic blueprint that defines every page, every user flow and every decision point, so you build a site that doesn't just look good but actually guides visitors toward conversion. I'm Alexis, a Conversion Systems Architect and Top 1% Fiverr Pro Certified specialist.

FAQs

What is a visual sitemap and why plan a website with one?

A visual sitemap is the architectural blueprint of a website: which pages exist, how they connect, what each one is for and how a visitor travels from arrival to the action you want. Planning with one matters because structure is the most expensive thing to change later: moving a page in a sitemap takes a minute, moving it after launch takes a rebuild. It is for founders launching a SaaS, store or service site, and agencies that need UX architecture before design.

What is included in a visual sitemap and UX architecture order?

You receive a complete visual sitemap mapping every page and screen, up to 5 pages on Basic, 10 on Standard and 15 on Premium; the primary user flows from entry to conversion; the content placement logic of each page, meaning what goes above the fold, what earns a scroll and what belongs elsewhere; and a video recording in which I explain the reasoning behind each decision. The layout is optimized for conversions, not for convention, and the whole thing is built as a handoff document.

How much does a visual sitemap cost?

A visual sitemap costs $150 for up to 5 pages, $250 for up to 10 and $350 for up to 15. Additional pages are +$25 each, mapped and placed in the flow like the rest. Two extras deepen the architecture: a Competitive UX Analysis of three rival sites (+$150), and User Research and Personas (+$100) so the structure is built around real visitors rather than your org chart. Express delivery runs from +$100 to +$200.

How long does it take to design a visual sitemap?

A visual sitemap is delivered in 3 days on Basic, 4 on Standard and 5 on Premium, video walkthrough included. The time goes into deciding which pages should exist and in what order, not into drawing boxes. Because the sitemap is the first step of a build, it rarely holds up the project; if your designer is already waiting, express delivery is available as an extra.

What do you need from me to design my website sitemap?

I need to know your business, your audience and the action you want visitors to take: buy, book, sign up or contact. If a site already exists, send the URL; if you have a list of pages in mind, send it too, including the ones you are unsure about, because what you reject tells me as much as what you want. Competitor sites you admire and your traffic sources help, but are not required.

Can I give the visual sitemap to my own designer or developer?

Yes, and most clients do: the sitemap is built as a handoff document, annotated, with a video explaining the rationale, so a designer or developer who was not in the conversation can build from it. It is platform-neutral and works for Shopify, WordPress and Elementor, Webflow, Framer or custom code, including e-commerce structures with collections, filtering and checkout flow. Many clients use it as the brief for their internal team or another freelancer.

Does a visual sitemap include wireframes or the website design?

No, the sitemap stops at architecture: the pages, their connections, the user flows and the low-fidelity layout of each page. Detailed wireframes, visual design and development come after, and getting the order right is what prevents redesigning pages that should not have existed. If you want me to build from the sitemap, I design Shopify stores and Elementor websites as separate services, and the Basic tier of my New Shopify Store Design service is this same sitemap at $150.

Visual sitemap vs new website consulting: which do I need first?

Order the visual sitemap when your offer, audience and goal are clear and you need the page-by-page structure to hand to a designer or developer. Book new website consulting first when those questions are still open, because a sitemap built on an undecided positioning gets rebuilt. In practice the consultation decides what the site must do, and the sitemap decides where each piece goes; if you are unsure which stage you are at, message me on Fiverr with your project.

Why hire a Fiverr Pro expert for a sitemap instead of using AI or a template?

Because the decision an AI or a template cannot make is which page should not exist. Every sitemap I deliver is designed manually, built backward from the action you want and forward from what a stranger knows on arrival, on a CRO methodology refined across 600+ CRO audits. I have designed or redesigned 150+ websites as a Fiverr Pro certified seller in CRO, UX design and website design, rated 4.9 over 900+ reviews, and clients regularly say the walkthrough video is what made the structure click.

Meet Alexis

Hi, I'm Alexis - a Conversion Systems Architect based in France, and one of the few sellers to earn Fiverr Pro certification in four categories.

Most websites fail before anyone opens a design tool. The pages exist, they just sit in the wrong order, and no amount of good design fixes a structure that asks people to decide before they understand.

I came to architecture from conversion work rather than from information design, which changes what I optimize for. A sitemap that is logically perfect and commercially useless is a failed sitemap. Mine are built backwards from the action you want, then forwards from what a stranger knows on arrival.

I work in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese, and I answer every message personally - usually within a few hours.
